Joshua Kilpatrick is a 2020 1B/LHP with a 6-5 180 lb. frame from Grain Valley, MO who attends Grain Valley. Long, lanky build with present athleticism and room to fill out. Ran a 7.41 second sixty-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary first baseman. Displayed low out front funnels with confident glove actions and smooth actions while fielding the ball. Showed clean footwork working off the base towards second base. Flashed quick transfers into throws with good arm strength and accurate carry to the bases topping out at 75 mph from first base. Right handed hitter. Employs a wide stance with a short leg lift trigger. Displayed a longer bat path through the zone with a level plane creating line drives when on time and squared. Flashed the ability to drive the ball to and through the gaps in the outfield when on time and squared. Also pitched at the event. Employs a small side step to belt high leg lift staying slightly flexed at gather going to drop and drive actions down the mound landing online with the plate and stays online with the plate through finish. Showed a long arm action in the back going to a mid three-quarter slot at release with developing arm speed. Flashed a fastball with a steep downhill plane up to 78 mph complemented with a 1/7 breaking ball with good depth and a fading change up with good feel for the zone at 61 mph. Great student.
