Kai-Wen Hsiao is a 2018 RHP with a 6-1 198 lb. frame from Taichung City, TG. Medium frame, large build, present strength through lower half, and room to continue to refine frame with age. Primary right handed pitcher, utilized a longer arm action, pause at balance point, directional towards the plate, and threw from a three quarter arm slot. Repeated delivery well with decent extension through the ball. Fastball showed good life at 75-77 mph down in the zone. Also showed feel for a changeup with reduced arm speed. Should continue to incorporate lower half to enhance drive. Clean delivery with lots of room to continue to add velocity at maturity. Also took batting practice, started with a tall stance, wide base, active hand load, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Longer, loose hand path to the ball that worked primarily through upper half. Needs to incorporate lower half and complete weight transfer.
