Brett Borcherding is a 2020 RHP/OF with a 5-4 122 lb. frame from New York, NY who attends Brooklyn Technical HS. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery. Stacks back side at gather and utilizes lower half while driving to the plate. Long arm circle back at separation and releases from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball showed some sinking action down in the zone between 63-67 miles per hour. Showed a knuckle changeup with softer spin and some sink. Consistently filled the strike zone with the ability to change speeds. Also worked out defensively from the outfield and first base. From first base shows compact footwork while surrounding the baseball with fundamental actions while pivoting. Gets on top of throws well creating accurate throws across the infield. From the outfield created good momentum through the baseball and released from a full three-quarters arm slot topping at 66 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and rotational lower half. Stays on back side throughout swing with a loose, extended plane through extension. Creates some loft at contact with a mid-field approach that created groundball, line drive contact. Tools will continue to develop with future physical maturity and repetition. Excellent student.
