Spencer Thurman is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 6-0 162 lb. frame from Amarillo, TX who attends Amarillo High School. Very young player with a medium build and frame and room to continue to fill out and develop physically. Primary right handed pitcher, starts with a medium leg raise, long arm action, long arm circle through the back, and throws from a high three quarter arm slot. Limited lower half through delivery, online at landing, generates extension down the mound, through cutting off finish. Fastball worked 68-72 mph with slight wiggle to arm side and heaviness to lower third. Fastball projects for more with age, lower half drive, and strength. Also showed changeup with good, replicated arm speed and fade at 65 mph. Showed 12/6 shaped curveball as well with depth and developing sharpness. Secondary first basemen, showed a long arm action, athleticism in bend, fielded out in front, and showed good accuracy to the bag. At the plate, started with an upright stance, simple stride to the ball, and toe tap timing mechanism. Linear swing path through the zone, pull side contact, and some lift off the barrel. Inconsistent timing at present, but should improve with additional strength and repetition. Very good student.
