Fernando Fernandez is a 2020 C/RHP/1B with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Miami Christian HS. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength throughout. Ran a 7.65 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively from the catcher position. Sets up in a lightly side straddle stance. Receives out front with softer hands. Gains ground toward the bag with some quickness in feet. Tight release with some arm strength to the bag topping out at 79 miles per hour and popping a 1.93 during workouts. Lefthanded hitter with an even stance to start and a leg lift trigger for timing. Gets through extension well with an elevated path into contact looking to create some lift. Able to work contact to all fields well with occasional jump when getting to the barrel. Projects well at the plate. Secondary righthanded pitcher with a simple side step delivery to start. Compact arm action in the back into a three-quarters release. Gets in the zone well with the fastball touching 83 miles per hour. Flashes two potential out pitches in a curveball that shows occasional tight spin and sharpness to break, as a well as a fading changeup. Excellent student as well.
