Justin Weiss is a 2019 C with a 5-8 180 lb. frame from Summit, NJ who attends Summit High School. Medium, broad shouldered build with mature build and present strength proportioned well throughout frame. Ran a 5.62 40-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, compact set behind the plate, gets tall out of crouch and gains short ground, can continue to implement additional lower half into drive coming out, tight transfer with a quick release, 2.09 best pop time, shows accuracy on throws and arm strength will continue to develop. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and low back elbow at the plate. Does a nice job of getting closed at point of contact with gliding trigger. Hands stay close to body, shorter path through the zone and created best contact when working linear through the zone. Shows rhythm to hands and a middle of the field approach, line drive contact to middle and pull when on time. Very good student.
