Matthew A. Rodriguez is a 2017 RHP/3B with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from La Puente, CA who attends Glen A. Wilson. Large frame with broad shoulders and excellent projection remaining; solid strength throughout body present as well. Primary pitcher, shows long and clean arm action with medium effort, slight slinger action as well up to mid three quarters slot. Rotates torso heavily to create hip torque into delivery, FB shows solid heavy arm side life with velocity working 80-84 MPH. Also mixed in slider with solid tilting shape, would occasionally drop arm slot to throw pitch. Hits from wider spread stance with solid balance, leg lift trigger, good rotation in upper body. Line drive swing plane with compact stroke, centers the ball well to both gaps. Worked out defensively in the infield. Good size and arm for 3B, fields cleanly and shows quick release. IF velocity up to 81 MPH. Named to 2015 California Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
