Alex Williford is a 2018 C/RHP with a 6-1 225 lb. frame from Fayetteville, GA who attends Trinity Christian HS. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Ran a 7.18 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a low, even stance while receiving the baseball. Gains ground while working out of crouch with a heel click lower half. Clean, fluid exchanges while working through transition and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Throws produced on line carry to the bag topping at 70 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.04. Left handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and hanging front side trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended path to contact with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Showed good feel for the barrel and consistently generated line drive, ground ball contact to the middle of the field. Also pitched showing a simple, repeatable delivery. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a quick over top arm slot. Fastball produced good downhill plane through the zone in the mid 70's, topped at 77 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with looser spin and good depth when staying on top of offering at release. Consistently looked to locate to the bottom of the zone and challenge hitters.
