Cole Westerlund is a 2018 C/RHP, 1B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Gilbert, AZ who attends Mesquite High School. Medium build with present strength and athleticism in frame with room to continue to develop. Posted a 7.34 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, developing arm strength up to 71 mph with a top workout pop time of 2.09 mph. At the plate, lower hand set with strength with a level swing plane through the zone. Comes forward slightly too far with a limited weight shift. Present bat speed with developing timing. Also pitched, worked from a three quarter arm slot with a longer arm action and slight stab. Pitched to contact with his fastball that worked 75-77 mph with slight arm side run. Would see fastball velocity improve with additional drive in his lower half. Curveball with softer 11/5 shape as well as a 20/4 shaped SL with sweeping action. Worked well to both sides of the plate.
