Jacob Gatewood is a 2014 SS/RHP with a 6-5 180 lb. frame from Clovis, CA who attends Clovis. Gatewood has a large frame with a long lean projectable pro build. He has very good arm strength with good carry on his throws. He has good defensive actions both on the infield and in the outfield that work very easy and smooth. He's got good hands with good transfers and release. At the plate, Gatewood has an aggressive balanced swing. He uses a hand hitch load with loose quick hands in his swing. Gatewood generates easy bat speed and the ball jumps off his bat. He's got thunder in his bat and has good leverage at contact. Highest level tools and really projects. Very good student.

Jacob Gatewood is a 2014 SS/RHP with a 6-4 175 lb. frame from Visalia, CA who attends Redwood HS. Long and slender build, young look, lots of room to grow. Two-way prospect. Excellent infield arm for his age, quick feet but footwork still developing, coltish but promising actions. Aggressive swing, attacks the ball, inconsistent swing path but ball jumps hard on contact. Exciting on the mound, effortless release, fairly sound delivery, lands with front foot closed, loose easy arm, H 3/4's slot. Fastball to 85 mph with occasional plus hard sinking life. Curveball is hard at 74 mph with excellent spin and hard, tight biting action. Still a thrower but flashes impressive raw stuff for a 2014. Follow very closely! Good student.

Jacob Gatewood is a 2014 SS/3B with a 6-4 175 lb. frame from Visalia, CA who attends Redwood. An intriguing young prospect with a tall athletic frame that projects for a lot of added strength with maturity. Gatewood showed good bat speed for a 2014 prospect. He squared up several balls hard against live pitching and was not intimidated by facing quality older competition. Swing has loft in it and he projects to hit for power down the road. Also showed solid defensive skills, most notably a loose projectable arm with solid present strength. Also showed some ability on the mound with good balance to his athletic delivery and a solid Curveball. Very interesting follow. Good student. Named to Top Prospect Team.
