Pitching
- Simple delivery. Side steps into a belt high knee lift. Not much drop in the backleg or hinge engagement. Pushy off the rubber. Medium arm path in the back that gets up on time and to release at a H 3/4 slot. Smaller stride that lands in-line. Gets over his front leg with an aggressive move and finish through home. Some effort at release noticeable with the arm and head. Had trouble with control. Cut the FB a bunch and mixed in a shorter two-plane breaker.
- Needs to use more of his lower half whether thats getting more out of the driveleg or getting into a good hip hinge. Noticed arm slot doesn't match shoulder tilt and plane of rotation. Either needs to drop slot slightly or increase shoulder tilt so it lines up. If you want the FB to act more true you might need to change the current grip or cue yourself in staying flush behind the baseball.
Defense
- OF - Aggressive approach to start and when he fielded it clean it was out front. Booted a couple where he showed lack of some glove adjustability due to head not staying down at reception. He gets it out the glove well and to release quick. Just work on making sure you see the ball work into your glove.
- INF - Stiffer raw actions at SS. Breaks down footwork and is flat footed at reception. Minimal glove feel where it doesn't work all the way down with some stab at times. I would just focus on getting the glove down early and working from the ground up. Then shift focus to feet that should maintain activeness through reception and set good direction.
Hitting
- Balanced/closed stance. Small gather with a simple forward stride where the hands push back, load up and position the barrel in a slight tip at launch. Slight armbar. Longer swing path with a level finish with hands that flashed some quality quickness. Quality contact was made through the middle of the field. Would recommend getting into a more connected launch instead of the armbar which is one of the causes of the longer swing path.
