Sunday Morning - Northeast Flag Day Tournament Update
Perfect Game Staff
Published: Friday, June 12, 2009

Updated Sunday June 14, 2009, 7:15am

Severe and heavy thunderstorms passed through the area last night. Both fields at Holmdel HS are underwater and completely unplayable for the day, as is Phillips Park and 2 other area fields we had secured as a contingency plan for today. That leaves Brookdale CC and Geick Park as the only two fields we have available today.

The two suspended games from Saturday will be completed this morning at Brookdale and Geick as scheduled last night.

We will then take the top 2 teams from each pool to play quarterfinals. Two quarterfinals will be played at 11:00am and the other two at 12:45pm. The quarterfinal games will be 5 innings/1.5 hour time limit. The semifinals will be played at 2:15pm, 7 innings/2 hour time limit, followed by the championship at 5:00pm. Please check the tournament schedule page for locations.

Unfortunately with the loss of multiple fields today, we are not going to be able to run any consolation games. We apologize for this, however the weather is one thing we have absolutely no control over. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Updated Saturday June 13, 2009, 10:00pm

Due to the rain received at all of the fields today and tonight, the schedule is adjusted as follows:

Sunday 8:00am Brookdale Community College - Team Connecticut 15 vs New Jersey Mariners 16 (continuation of suspended game)

Sunday 8:00am Old Bridge HS-Geick Park - North Shore Royals vs New England Ruffnecks 15 (continuation of suspended game)

After the conclusion of these two games, each team will have played 2 pool play games. The 3rd pool play games originally scheduled for 8:00am and 10:15am will not be played. We will instead be taking the top 2 teams in each pool to the playoffs, with quarterfinals starting at 11:00am. The remaining 8 non playoff teams will be scheduled for a consolation game at either 1:15pm or 3:30pm.

Sunday 11:00am Holmdel HS-Varsity - Pool D 2nd Place (Long Island Titans 16u White) vs Pool A 1st Place (TBD)

Sunday 11:00am Holmdel HS-JV - Pool A 2nd Place (TBD) vs Pool D 1st Place (NJ Mariners 2012's Blue)

Sunday 11:00am Brookdale CC - Pool C 2nd Place (Baseball U Underclass) vs Pool B 1st Place (TBD)

Sunday 11:00am Old Bridge HS-Geick Park - Pool B 2nd Place (TBD) vs Pool C 1st Place (Riptide Development)

Consolation games will begin at 1:15pm and 3:30pm. The consolation schedule will be posted after the suspended games are completed tomorrow morning. Please check the website for the schedule tomorrow.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
