10u Championship Recap: Day 1

Jordan Posway
While the 9u tournament was on the home stretch, ten more teams ranging from New York to Puerto Rico gathered at the East Cobb Baseball Complex in Marietta, Georgia for the PG Super25 10u National Championship. Here’s a recap of the 10u action from day one:

AJ Gracia lifted Tri-State Ar
senal-McAdams over the Midland Blackhawks 9-8 courtesy of a walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Blackhawks came within one run of the Arsenal after a two-run top of the sixth, but their offense was too little, too late. However, the Blackhawks turned the tables with a walk-off single of their own in their ensuing game against the Otc Xplosion. Jake Hertzman dealt the knockout punch with a sixth inning RBI single, ending their back-and-forth affair 7-6.

The CBC Elite from San Juan, Puerto Rico had an unfortunate start to the tournament as they fell to the 643 DP Cougars 15-0 in a short three-inning contest. The Cougars drove home eleven runs on nine hits, and reaped the benefits of four errors in the rout. Although it was a tough loss, the CBC Elite will have plenty more chances to right the ship.

With eight runs in the final two innings, the Tallahassee Heat Black stormed past the Houston Banditos. John Pitchford spearheaded Tallahassee’s eight run explosion with a two-run triple in the third inning. Pitchford tossed two solid innings and led the team with three RBIs as the Heat overpowered the Banditos 8-2.
