Nolan Frey is a 2020 LHP/OF with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Iowa City, IA who attends Iowa City Liberty HS. Slender young build, projects well physically. Fast paced leg raise delivery, compact arm action with a high 3/4's to over the top release point, hides the ball well and has deception. Mid-70's fastball, topped out at 78 mph early, gets nice sinking and running action in his comfort zone, works down in the zone when he stays back well in his delivery. Creates nice downer spin and shape to his curveball, got in a good groove dropping the curveball down into the strike zone once he got settled. Showed feel for pitching and should continue to improve as he gets stronger. Left handed hitter, stays balanced and behind the ball well, best contact hitting out front. Excellent student.
