Shelby Wheeler is a 2018 OF/RHP, 1B with a 6-4 180 lb. frame from Annapolis, MD who attends Annapolis HS. The two way player has a tall frame with an athletic build and room to fill out with strength as he matures. Good runner. Smooth delivery to the plate with a high leg kick that coils the front side, torques the body at the top of the leg lift, short arm swing to a 3/4 release point and creates downhill plane. Worked primarily with the four seam fastball up to 74mph and let the defense work by keeping the ball down in the zone. In the outfield he fielded with good technique, clean transfers and an accurate arm. At the plate he starts the swing with leg lift leading to his stride separation, worked the ball up the middle, and has a good feel for contact. Good Student.
