Jadrian Martinez is a 2019 LHP/1B with a 5-11 210 lb. frame from Belen, NM who attends Belen Infinity HS. Medium, broad shouldered frame with present strength throughout frame. Primary lefthanded pitcher, deliberate set of mechanics on the bump, loose arm action coming through the back side and works to an extended three-quarters arm slot, creates angle at release and works slightly across body, projects well with additional lower half. Pitches to contact, ran fastball up to 77 mph with short running life, occasionally opens front side early. Shows a feel for slider too, short break with 2-8 shape, flashed a changeup at 72 mph with short fading life. Similar arm action from first base with lower release point, fields the ball out front, clean transfer out of the glove, accurate throws across. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and gets closed well with leg lift trigger, high hand set at start. Stays short and very direct to ball with swing path, has looseness to hands and does a nice job to get the barrel to the ball, movement to hands but regularly on time. Simple approach and shows ability to work all fields with a clean path and present bat speed. Very good student.
