Signing Deadline Notes
Louisville:The return of Kyle Funkhouser is the biggest and most surprising development on the college landscape pertaining to the 2015 MLB Draft. That alone means great things for a club that went 47-18 in 2015 and 25-5 in the ACC, returning their Friday and Saturday night starters with PG college Freshman of the Year Brendan McKay coming back to assume his Saturday role. Josh Rogers did end up signing with the Yankees as their 11-round pick, but they have an enviable wealth of pitching talent ready to step in and take his place.
Joining the likes of Funkhouser, McKay, Drew Harrington, Zack Burdi, Jake Sparger, Sean Leland, Robert Strader and Lincoln Henzman in the pitching mix will be a talented crop of newcomes including Bryan Hoeing, Sam Bordner, Riley Thompson and Noah Burkholder. Toolsy outfielder Joshua Stowers and Chris Botsoe will also help to fill in some of the gaps for a team that enjoyed an incredible amoung of success yet may be playing with a chip on their shoulder after being denied of a third consecutive trip to Omaha in Super Regional play.
