2023 Fall Top Prospect National Showcase
Orlando Cruz is a 2025 OF with a 6-2 155 lb. frame from Juncos, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Long and lean athletic build, very projectable physically, stands out for his athletic look and actions. Outstanding runner, 6.54 in the sixty, will be an easy plus runner when he's 175 pounds. Primary outfielder on defense, has clean actions through the ball with some idea on his footwork and transition, has a lower release point but a loose and whippy arm that creates lots of carry. Right handed hitter, hits from a slightly open narrow base, knee lift trigger into contact, has some present bat speed with more to come, showed the ability to handle the barrel with solid line drive contact, hit to all fields. Also pitched, throws from the same lower release slot, threw mostly fastballs and topped out at 84 mph, flashed a soft developing slider. Very interesting prospect who could really develop with additional strength. Good student. Named to the Fall Top Prospect National Showcase Top Prospect List.
