Freddie Matvias is a 2025 C/1B, OF with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Chicago, IL, who attends Walter Payton College Prep. A taller and bigger frame but a compact build with room to keep filling out moving forward. Ran a 7.78 60-yard dash. Primary catcher who worked with a right-knee down setup from behind the dish. He had tons of momentum working through it with quick feet and an on-line approach through release. He had some speed in the arm with a shorter release. Showed some strength with throws at 78 mph and one-hop accuracy at second with a 1.90 pop time. Launches out of the crouch. A right-handed hitter who has a slightly wider base and squared stance. Uses a knee-to-knee leg lift with a lower back elbow in his stance. He shifts the weight well, gliding onto his front side with a shorter swing. Gets the barrel on the ball with some hand speed. He worked to the opposite-field gap. He showed some strength and hammered balls during his round of BP swings. Produced an 80 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Also worked out as an outfielder, fielding the ball one-handed off the front foot. He was accurate in the air with his throws and had one-hop accuracy around the bag. He showed some athleticism with his footwork, showing a clue for the actions. He had a longer arm action through release. Threw 83 mph from the outfield during his round of outfield throws. Great student. Named to 2024 Chicago Indoor Showcase TP List.
