A.J. Sicignano is a 2017 C with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Massapequa, NY who attends Chaminade High School. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.68 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, low set behind the plate, full arm action coming through the back with a tighter release from the ear, gets on top of throws and shows accuracy to second base, repeats actions, upright at release, will continue to lower pop time with incorporation of lower half into release. Takes short steps moving towards the ball in the outfield, fields the ball out front and works to a similar tight release point on throws while staying short in the back. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box with a slight tilt to the barrel. Starts slightly open with base and uses a leg lift trigger for timing while getting closed, stays short to the ball with a full path through the point of contact, generates extension out front and shows ability to work the middle of the field. Can work the opposite field and shows nice timing to swing. Very good student.
