Ryo Yamaguchi is a 2017 C/MIF with a 5-7 145 lb. frame from Ibaraki, OS who attends Sentinel. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.26 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher with a low set and solid hip flexion while receiving. Very athletic footwork while gaining ground the bag. Has very quick, clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Baseball came out of hand cleanly from a compact slot topping at 71 mph, best workout pop time of 2.00. Throws produced occasional carry to the bag with accuracy. Right handed hitter with a balanced stance and high leg kick trigger. Stacks back side at load and launches to contact with linear lower half actions. Pulls hands to inside of baseball creating a line drive plane through extension. Maintains balanced through finish with a mid-field approach. Consistently squared contact to the middle of the field but also flashed the ability to work the baseball the other way as well. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition.
