Taiga Hatashima is a 2017 SS with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Fukuoka, FO who attends Kagoshima Jitsugyo HS. Medium frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength with continue physical development. Ran a 7.57 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop with mechanically sound, athletic footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball with smooth glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Gets the ball out quickly with a loose arm action, topped at 76 mph across the infield. Throws produced some on line carry to the bag with accuracy. Right handed hitter with a balanced and quiet load. Shifts into front side while launching to contact and generates a compact, slightly uphill swing plane through extension. Created some back side tilt prior to delivering barrel to baseball. Flashed solid barrel control throughout the zone with the ability to hit to all fields. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Very good student as well.
