Hodaka Usuki is a 2017 C with a 5-8 166 lb. frame from Shirakawa, FS who attends Shirakawa HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 8.07 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher with a low, slightly side set stance while receiving. Gains some ground while working out of crouch showing fundamental footwork. Releases from a compact, slightly lower arm slot topping at 69 mph to the bag. Best workout pop time of 2.14. Throws produced occasional on line carry with accuracy to the bag. Right handed hitter with a balanced stance and high, hanging leg lift trigger. Gets barrel on path early while swinging with intent to drive the baseball into the outfield gaps. Handled the barrel well throughout the zone with the ability to repeats swing plane. Consistently squared up baseball throughout batting practice to all fields. Also flashed some pop to the opposite field gap when squared.
