David Barclay is a 2018 C/3B with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Thornton, CO who attends Broomfield HS. Medium frame, athletic build. Body projects for additional size with strength. Right handed hitter with an open stance and high back elbow set. Weight shifts back with a simple rock back load while creating slight coil. Hands launch on a compact plane with a mid-field approach. Does shows the ability to turn the barrel at times on pitches inner half and use pull side as well. Showed a consistent, mature approach at the plate in batting practice and in game play. Worked out defensively from behind the plate and infield. From behind the plate shows a balanced, slightly higher set. Quick arm cirlce with clean glove to hand exchanges. Gets baseball out quickly with downhill angle and accuracy to the bage, best pop of 2.13. Shows polished receiving skills with soft hands. Tends to stay back on baseball from the infield. Developing actions while surrounding and funneling the baseball into transition. Shows accurate throws across the infield with some on line carry, topping at 67 mph. Projects as a catching prospect at this time. Tools will continue to develop with continued physical maturity. Good student as well.
