No. 1 Tennessee at Vanderbilt

The Volunteers (40-9) have ascended to the top spot in the rankings and have continued to build on their already impressive offensive resume.  They are 7th in the nation in team batting average, as well as doubles and are 2nd in the nation in home runs.  They are no slouch on the mound either as they are 4th in team ERA and 3rd in team K-to-BB ratio.  Vanderbilt (33-16) is going through their roughest stretch of the season having lost 6 of their last 10 games including 5 of their last 6 SEC matches.  The Commodores play much better at home than the road but Tennessee is insanely good right now and should take the series.

Vin's Pick: Tennessee

No. 3 Clemson at No. 13 Wake Forest

Clemson (37-10) continues to be a club that just simply finds ways to win ball games, whether by slugging or shutdown innings on the mound.  They seem to be the college version of a “jack of all trades but master of none” but who cares as long as you collect the W’s.  Wake Forest (33-16) took a week away from ACC play and have won 6-consecutive games but are only playing .500 ball in league games.  Like their opponents this weekend, they are in a strong position to be a host for the NCAA tournament and a series win would all but secure that.  The Tigers have only dropped one series all year and I think they keep it that way this weekend.

Cozy’s Pick: Clemson

Vin's Pick: Wake Forest

No. 20 Mississippi State at No. 5 Arkansas

The Bulldogs (32-16) have won 8 of their last 10 as well as taking 3-consecutive SEC series to push themselves to 3rd in the West.  They have the home faithful anticipating an NCAA tournament being back in Starkville and the pitching staff has really come together in the last month.  The Razorbacks (40-9) dropped only their second series of 2024 last weekend but are still one of the most dangerous clubs in the nation.  Their pitching continues to mow through the competition and if they ever find some consistency with the sticks they will be one of the frontrunners to win it all.  This will be an extremely tight series, but Arkansas just doesn’t lose at home and should get back to their winning ways.

Cozy’s Pick: Arkansas

Western Kentucky at Louisiana Tech

The Hilltoppers (32-16) are one of the feel good stories of the season as they put together one of the best seasons in recent program history.  That being said, they surprisingly dropped both games at UNC Asheville last weekend in a non-conference matchup and saw their RPI drop to 92 and well out of at-large contention.  LaTech (35-15) on the other hand has won 7 out of 10 and are firmly in the at-large conversation with a 42 RPI going into the weekend.  The Love Shack is a sensational home field advantage and the winner of this series could be in the C-USA regular season lead when it’s all said and done.  This will be an entertaining series but I think the Bulldogs protect their home turf.

Indiana at Nebraska

The Hoosiers (27-19) are playing their best brand of ball at the right time of the year and all of the sudden are only 1-game out of first place in the Big Ten.  Devin Taylor is having his usual productive offensive output but it really just comes down to what they get on the mound from the starting rotation.  The Cornhuskers (30-17) are also a game out of 1st place but have scuffled a bit in the last couple weeks.  They don’t slug like they have in the last couple seasons but are high pressure on the bases and have swiped 81 bags thus far.  Indiana is surging at the right time and has been very competitive on the road, so I think they pull the upset this weekend..

Cozy’s Pick: Indiana

Vin's Pick: Nebraska

Northeastern at College of Charleston

Northeastern (33-13) haven’t quite lived up to pre-season expectations all year but don’t be fooled, they are a dangerous club.  Tyler MacGregor is arguably the best slugger in the northeast and leads his team in almost every offensive category.  The Cougars (34-11) have flown under the radar as one of the best mid-major clubs in the nation this year.Transfer Cole Singsank has been a nice power infusion in the middle of the lineup and Davis Aiken has secured 10 saves in his 25 appearances on the year.  Both of these clubs are CAA title contenders but Charleston is too good at home.

Cozy’s Pick: College of Charleston

Vin's Pick: Northeastern

Samford at UNC Greensboro

Samford (32-16) has been the most consistent team in the SOCON this year but only hold a slim half-game lead over their opponent for the weekend.  Michael Ross is one of the best starting pitchers that most people don’t know about with a (10-0) record to date.  However, after that, things get pretty dicey pretty fast on the bump.  The Spartans (29-17) play in one of the most spacious college fields in the nation but can still hit the long ball and combine that with 87 stolen bases.  They have pitched much better down the stretch, especially in league play and just lost their 9-game win streak in the midweek.  The winner of this series most likely takes home the SOCON regular season crown and I am going with home standing UNC Greensboro.
