Perfect Game Junior College Top 25: April 26

It’s hard to believe that the regular season is coming to a close already, but yet here we are. While some regions have already wrapped up their regular season schedule, others still have a few games left on their slate before we start looking ahead to the postseason.

In this update, the top four teams remain unchanged from last week. San Jacinto (40-10) remains No. 1 followed by Santa Fe (38-7), LSU-Eunice (43-3) and Neosho County (47-9). Rounding out the top 5 this week is McLennan (41-10) who jumps up two spots after winning five straight and 13 of their last 15.

While the top 5 is unchanged other than McLennan, the top 10 has a few new faces. Chipola (37-13) has already finished up their regular season and stays in the sixth spot, but after them we see Grayson (40-13) moving down two spots from fifth to seventh, St. Johns River (38-11) moving into the eighth spot, John A Logan (39-9) at ninth and Seminole State (37-10) 10th.

The 11-15 range has some very strong teams and it wouldn’t be a surprise if any one of them made a deep run and win a National Championship.

Connors State (41-8), Iowa Western (37-12) and the red-hot Walters State (43-13) club all reside here. Walters State finished their season by winning 18 straight behind the efforts of power hitter Ramon Osuna and lefty Jake Miednik, who boasts a 12-0 record in 13 starts with 118 strikeouts, which ranks second in the country for Division I players.

The two new teams to crack the Top 25 are Mercer County (43-6), who come in at No. 21, and Wabash Valley (40-11) in the 25th position. Wabash Valley is riding a 17-game winning streak with three games left to play on their regular season schedule.

Rankings are based on games through Sunday, May 1

Others considered: Polk State, Dyersburg State, Chattanooga State, Cisco.
