Iowa Spring League Scout Notes: Week 5

Iowa Select Evans started the final Saturday of Spring League off right, scoring five runs in the first two innings on their way to a commanding 16-3 victory over PG 2022. The Evans lineup smashed 18 hits in total, but none were as loud as the RBI double that came off the bat of Emiliano Ramos (2022, Hartland, Wis.) in the 10th inning. Ramos took a healthy hack at a two-strike fastball up in the zone, and he certainly didn’t miss it. Not only did he get barrel on a tough pitch, but he also showed impressive adjustability within the swing, as he was able to catch it out front and elevate a chest high fastball. He got this one up in the jet stream and it stayed in the air for a long time, carrying to the base of the fence in left field. The Wisconsin-La Crosse commit is an athletic player with a fluid swing and plenty of projectability on the offensive side of the ball. Ramos would end the day 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored, and one walk.
