Yasmani Grandal is a 2007 C with a 6'2'', 215 lb. frame from Hialeah, FL, who attends Miami Springs HS. Grandal has a large frame with present strength. He is one of the top defensive catchers in this year's draft. Grandal has arm strength (82 mph) and is very accurate with all of his throws on the bag. During game action, Grandal threw out the fastest runner at the event trying to steal 2B. He also has soft hands, and does a great job blocking balls from side to side. Offensively he is a switch hitter with the ability to drive the ball from both sides. He has a good approach at the plate and stays inside the ball. Grandal drove one ball deep to CF in game action that came off the bat at 98 mph and traveled 400+ feet. He is a complete catcher and loves to play.
