Chase Newton is a 2024 RHP/C/SS with a 6-0 184 lb. frame from Bayville, NJ who attends Central Regional. Medium, high waisted frame with some present strength in his lower half and room to fill out. Primary right-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with a belt high leg lift and good stride length down the slope. Fastball worked in the upper-70s for the duration of his outing with life through the zone and topped out at 80 mph from a three-quarters arm slot. Showed confidence in pounding the outer half of the zone with his fastball and mixed in a varying shaped breaking ball with some gradual depth. Will need to refine things mechanically to enhance the overall spin profile of his breaking ball moving forward. Secondary infielder with deliberate actions throughout the fielding process. Displayed some lateral range to either side, a slightly deeper funnel out in-front and recorded arm strength up to 82 mph across the diamond during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even, balance stance with a slightly open stance with a high, forward hand set and toe-tap trigger for timing. Incorporates rotational lower half mechanics to generate torque. Intent based swing with developing feel for the barrel, mostly pullside contact with occasional line drive impact when on-time and in-sync. Will continue to improve with minor swing adjustments and additional physicality. Good Student.
