2018 Northwest Prospect Showcase
Aiden Herrick is a 2021 SS/C with a 6-0 172 lb. frame from Olympia, WA who attends Olympia HS. Medium frame with an athletic build. Frame projects for additional strength. Primary shortstop with clean, athletic footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball cleanly out front and worked through exchange with fluidity. Primarily released from a three-quarters slot, but flashed the ability to throw with accuracy from multiple arm slot, topped at 81 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from behind the plate showing a low, balanced set while receiving the baseball. Gains ground while working out of crouch with fundamentally sound footwork. Compact arm action at release and created accurate carry to the bag at 75 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.97. Right handed hitter with a narrow, open stance and lower hand set. Moves into contact well with lower half while employing a line drive barrel plane. Consistently worked to the middle of the field and opposite field gap when maintaining balance at contact. Flashed the ability to generate solid bat speed through the zone that produced loud, sharp contact when squared. Very good student. Named to the 2018 Northwest Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
