2018 PG Fall Top Prospect National Showcase
Jay Allmer is a 2020 RHP/OF with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Cary, NC who attends Panther Creek. Tall and projectable frame with some strength present in his legs. Ran an 8.22 second 60 yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, sets up on the first base side of the rubber, begins his delivery with a short side step up to a high leg lift, sits on back leg as he comes down the mound, takes arm back to a long arm action up to a high 3/4 arm slot, uses some lower half drive with an early hip open as he comes to the plate. Fastball is mostly straight while flashing life to arm side, topped out at 86 mph with the heater, mixed in a developing curveball with 12-to-6 shape out of his hand. Also took reps at first base, showed some agile footwork at the back fielding the ball with a high gather, effort to actions with some extra movements at release, good arm strength up to 84 mph from first base. Righthanded hitter, takes a small stride forward into contact, inside and hand path to the baseball with a downhill swing plane. Great student. Named to 2018 PG Fall Top Prospect National Showcase Top Prospect List.
