Drew McKnight is a 2009 OF/2B with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Birmingham AL, who attends Oak Mountain HS. He has a lean, tall build with long arms and legs for his height and considering his age is very projectable. McKnight has smooth, easy actions in all parts of his game. He ran the 60 in 7.07 and threw 78 mph during outfield drills. He approaches the ball easily in the outfield on defense and has a balanced release on his throws. Offensively, McKnight has a balanced, calm approach with a quick, short swing. He drove the ball consistently to the middle of the field and stays down and through the ball like an advanced hitter. He has some late lift in his swing that should help him develop his power potential as he matures. McKnight's skills are very polished for a 2009 prospect but his body and strength are just beginning to develop. That's a good combination and is a good sign for the future. McKnight could be a very good one if he works hard and gets strong because he already has a lot of prospect skills. Very good follow. McKnight is also a very good student.
