Jose Vargas is a 2019 SS/ with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Harrisburg, NC who attends Hickory Ridge HS. Recorded a 7.36 second 60-yard dash time. Lean athletic frame with a projectable build and room to fill out. Primary shortstop who moves to the ball well on either side. Short, sure footwork into the gather and has solid overall footwork. Quick release on throws with a quick transfer with throws recorded up to 81 mph across the diamond. Lefthanded hitter with a small stride forward and a hanging leg lift trigger into contact. Contact oriented stroke and remains closed for a long time. Looking to hit the ball into the air and looks very good when it's on time. Compact bat path through the zone. Good student.
