2019 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Rhett Stein is a 2020 C/RHP/3B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Auburn, WA who attends Auburn HS. Strong build with present strength and athleticism. Flashed quick feet and good footwork gaining ground well from behind the plate. Showed quick transfers and good arm strength topping out at 76 miles per hour from behind the dish and posting a 1.95 second pop time. Throws had accurate on base carry. Right handed hitter. Utilizes an upright slightly open stance with a high hand and back elbow set up. Very quiet pre swing actions and load. Flashed quick hands going directly to the ball creating consistent solid contact and good barrel control. Employs a gap to gap approach with good power and the ability to drive the ball to and through the gaps. Also pitched. Uses a small side step to belt high leg lift using drop and drive actions down the mound while landing slightly closed creating some cross fire actions in the delivery. Showed the ability to keep hitters off balance with a good two pitch mix including a fastball with a downhill plane at 81 miles per hour and a sharp 11-5 curveball at 70 miles per hour. Great student. Named to 2019 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase Top Prospect List.
