David Shaw is a 2021 LHP with a 6-5 195 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends The Kinkaid. Long and lean southpaw with lots of growing and physical maturing to do. Crossfire delivery with a high front side in his delivery, creates big angle to the plate and has deception, has some energy at release but repeats his delivery well and is a strike thrower. Fastball topped out at 88 mph with good sink and run, pounded the bottom of the strike zone with his fastball. Feel for a sweeping slider is better at present than his change up, slider has good spin and shape, change up some fading action. Hitters don't seem to see the ball well and didn't take good swings. Huge physical projection remaining. Outstanding student, verbal commitment to Rice.
