David Long is a 2022 C/RHP, 3B with a 5-11 145 lb. frame from Dallas, TX who attends Jesuit College Prep. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a high waist, lead build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.70 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, lower set up behind the plate, gains ground with lower half, longer stride coming out and will continue to refine, deeper transfer into a full arm action, works on top of throws down to second base with accuracy. Also pitched, high leg lift with slight pause at top, tall on backside with tempo throughout; compact arm action working to a three-quarters release point. Some effort at release, fastball topped out at 73 mph and showed short running life in the zone. Weak contact off of the barrel, flashed a curveball with 11-5 spin at 69 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger and gets wide moving into contact. Does a nice job of staying short to the ball and shows strength to hands. Swings with intent and tracks the ball well, shows strength when square and will unlock additional pop with refined lower half mechanics.
