William Grimm is a 2020 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Lacresenta, CA who attends Crescenta Valley. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Displayed good feel for his fastball with natural cut to glove side in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 82 miles per hour. Curveball had 1/7 shape with good spin and later depth in the upper 60's. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a changedup offering that created some fade. Consistently located to each edge of the plate throughout each inning and induced weak contact. Also worked out defensively from first base showing soft hands while funneling the baseball out front. Worked through exchange quickly and released from a loose three-quarters arm slot. Worked around the bag well displayed good range to each side as well. Left handed hitter with a spread, slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Clean hand path to baseball with a line drive plane through extension. Stays balanced throughout with the barrel control to consistently work to all fields with ease. Excellent student as well.
