Giancarlo Maldonado is a 2023 SS/C with a 5-5 145 lb. frame from Helotes, TX who attends O'Connor. Young frame with a ton of room to fill. Recorded a 7.31 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, worked out in the infield with quick feet and strong footwork, ranges well to both sides with a good glove, short arm action with clean throws across, overall solid and will improve with added strength. Secondary catcher, worked out behind the dish with a higher setup, replaces his feet well and gains ground in throws, developing arm strength but accurate with throws. Left-handed hitter, starts wide and slightly open, hanging leg lift trigger, stays inside the ball working to the middle and opposite field, line drive barrel plane with developing bat speed and control of the barrel. Outstanding student.
