Austin Francis is a 2022 SS/RHP, 2B with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Troy, NY who attends Troy. Medium frame with athletic build and plenty of room to fill out. Primary shortstop with good footwork, clean funnel out in front and athletic actions. Uses short, quick steps with good balance in fielding operation, working into an easy release with accuracy across the diamond. Shows developing arm strength with throws recorded up to 80 mph. Secondary right-handed pitcher with a smooth, repeatable delivery. Uses a small side-step rocker into a coiled leg lift, working into a true three-quarters arm slot with drop and drive lower down the mound. Proved ability to command both sides of the plate with heavy arm side run and extension out in front, maintaining velocity well throughout his outing. Fastball worked in 80-82 mph range with life through the bottom of the zone. Shows ability to maintain arm speed with a well-tunneled breaking ball that varied in shape. Projectable frame with upside on the mound with present athleticism and clean arm action. Right-handed hitter with slightly open stance, small leg lift trigger and good posture through contact. Intent based swing with consistent barrel accuracy and extension out in front, using a gap-to-gap approach with power potential. Interesting two-way potential with athleticism and vast projection.
