Hunter Friedberg is a 2023 OF/LHP, 1B with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Redondo Beach, CA who attends St. John Bosco. Compact athletic build with room to fill out. Ran a 7.40 second sixty-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary outfielder. Flashed athletic, clean footwork working to and through the baseball in the outfield. Displayed clean funnels off to the side of the baseball with good transfers into throws with good arm strength and accurate carry to the bases topping out at 78 MPH from the outfield. Also worked out at first base. Flashed athletic actions working off the base utilizing out front funnels with clean transfers into throws with accurate carry and good arm strength topping out at 76 MPH from first base. Left handed hitter. Employs an upright slightly open stance with a high back elbow set up and rotational lower half. Flashed a inside hand path to the baseball looking to hit line drives to the middle and opposite fields. High intent swing creating good bat speed resulting in loud contact to the pull side consistently. Also pitched. Employs a small side step to belt high leg lift staying slightly flexed at gather going to drop and drive actions down the mound landing online with the plate and staying online through finish. Flashed a longer arm action in the back going to a mid three-quarter arm slot at release with good arm speed. Works quickly keeping hitters uncomfortable in the box. Displayed a fastball with good control to both sides of the plate up to 75 MPH and a 1/7 curveball with good depth also thrown for consistent strikes at 57 MPH. Excellent student.
