John Petit is a 2020 RHP/OF with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Orlando, FL who attends The First Academy. Solid build with present athleticism and room to fill out. Primary right handed pitcher. Employs a small side step to belt high leg lift staying slightly flexed at gather going to drop and drive actions down the mound landing online with the plate and staying online through finish. Showed a long arm action in the back with looseness going to an extended three-quarter arm slot at release getting extended out front well. Flashed a fastball with arm side run and sink to go along with good control to both sides of the plate up to 81 MPH complemented with a 11/5 curveball with good depth and a sinking change up at 75 MPH. Also worked out defensively in the outfield. Showed aggressive actions working to and through the baseball while using confident glove actions fielding to the side of the baseball. Flashed clean transfers into throws with good arm strength and accurate carry to the bases topping out at 77 MPH from the outfield. Right handed hitter. Employs an even upright stance with a leg lift trigger and rotational weight transfer. Displayed a fluid inside out bat path to the baseball creating consistently driven line drives. Utilizes a middle of the field approach looking to drive line drives to the middle of the field. Showed the ability to drive the ball to and through the gaps in the outfield when on time and squared. Excellent student.
