Ethan Schmidt is a 2020 MIF/OF with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Anaheim Hills, CA who attends Canyon. Medium frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength. Primary middle infielder with smooth, fluid footwork while rounding the baseball. Moves well to each side and funnels the baseball well. Worked through exchange quickly and released from a three-quarters slot. Generated accurate, on line carry across the infield topping at 79 mph. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Clean, direct hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane. Displayed good feel for the barrel with solid bat speed. Consistently created hard contact while employing a mid field approach. Excellent student.
