Andrew Thomas is a 2020 SS/2B, 3B, MIF with a 5-10 173 lb. frame from Salt Lake City, UT who attends Highland. Medium frame with an athletic build and room to continue to add. Ran a 7.18 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary shortstop. Rounds the ball well and works in line with the bag. Fields out in front with a funnel in. Clean exchanges getting the ball out quickly and into a long arm action. Release from a three-quarter arm slot and topping out at 81 MPH. Righthanded hitter with a slightly crouched stance. Utilizes a simple leg lift trigger for timing. Linear shifts into contact. Flashes barrel speed through a simple hand path and slightly lifted barrel plane. Middle of the field approach working from gap-to-gap. Secondary righthanded pitcher with a side step into leg lift to the belt delivery. Slight drop and drive actions to the plate. Medium arm circle in the back and into a high three-quarter release. Straight fastball with occasional downhill plane topping out at 78 MPH. Late downward bite on the breaking ball and will work to a straight changeup at times. Very good student as well.
