Jack Perala is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-3 225 lb. frame from Virginia, MN who attends Virginia Secondary. Large frame with broad shoulders, long limbs and a solid build. Primary right handed pitcher with a small side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side with slight coil at gather. Works to the plate with drop and drive actions while landing at a slightly closed position. Deep arm stab at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Showed good arm speed with a fastball that flashed good downhill tilt with run in the low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with good spin and sharp depth in the low 70's. Generated good deception to the plate with delivery and consistently kept hitters of balance. Primarily looked to attack the bottom quadrant of the zone and induced weak contact. Worked out defensively from first base with smooth paced footwork while centering the baseball. Funnels from a deeper position and worked through exchange well. Released from a three-quarters slot producing accurate carry tot he bag at 79 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Present bat speed with strength at contact. Utilized a naturally lifted barrel plane and generated hard contact with carry to the gaps when squared. Very good student as well.
