Logan Ellis is a 2018 3B/RHP/1B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Bushland/Amarillo, TX who attends Bushland HS. Large frame with broad shoulders, long limbs and wiry strength. Projects for additional strength. Primary third baseman with smooth, sound footwork while rounding and surrounding the baseball. Fluid glove actions while funneling and worked through exchanges well. Released from a three-quarters slot creating accurate, on line carry across the infield topping at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and large leg lift trigger. Created slight hand coil at load and works to contact on a loose, extended path. Barrel came through the zone on a slightly lifted plane and showed solid fluidity through extension. Primarily looked to drive the ball on a line to the middle of the field and opposite field gap. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball showed good downhill plane through the zone with slight run to arm side in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 82 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with solid spin and good depth in the upper 60's. Consistently worked fastball to each edge of the plate and down in the zone before changing speed with breaking ball. Good student as well.
