Caden Cortese is a 2018 C/MIF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Napa, CA who attends Napa. Cortese has a medium sized frame with some strength. Defensively he showed solid catch and throw skills behind the plate and repeated it well. He was accurate on the bag with his pop throws and has some arm strength up to 77 MPH. Cortese has a clean release and gains ground on his throws. He showed good receiving skills and blocking skills as well. At the plate, Cortese starts with a slightly open stance with a slightly spread base. He gets a high back elbow at load and stacks his weight on his backside. He has a rotational lower half and uses a simple toe tap trigger. He showed some feel for the barrel and has a loose path to the baseball. Cortese made line drive contact and showed an opposite field approach. Excellent student.
