Sebastian Baca is a 2018 LHP/1B with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Albuquerque, NM who attends Albuquerque Academy. Large frame with broad shoulders, long limbs and present strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather and utilized lower half well while driving to the plate. Lands in line and continues momentum to the plate over a flexed front side. Medium arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball produced solid downhill angle through the zone with occasional running actions. Shows good feel for fastball offering and consistently worked to each edge of the plate. Curveball had 12/6 shape with good spin and occasional sharp depth in the low 60's. Maintained arm speed with a changeup offering that flashed solid sink with some fade to arm side in the mid 60's. Consistently repeated mechanics and effectively mixed pitches throughout each inning of work. Also worked out defensively from first base showing clean actions while centering the baseball and working through transition. Clean glove actions and moves well to each side. Released from a high three-quarters slot topping at 74 miles per hour across the infield. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Creates slight coil with hands at load and works to contact on a loose, extended path. Generated some leveraged through extension and stays behind baseball well at contact. Flashed present bat speed with strength and produced solid carry to the gaps when on time and squared. Excellent student.
