Cortlan Castle is a 2021 C/RHP, 3B with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Woodway, TX who attends Midway High School. Medium, athletic frame with present strength proportioned throughout and additional room to fill. Ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, wide base in set behind plate, strides open and towards second base coming out of crouch, shows quick transfer and release on throws with quick footwork, tight release from a shorter, compact arm action, shows accuracy down to second base on throws. Also pitched and graded out best on mound, does a nice job of generating extension out front while getting on top of ball and generating plane. Medium and easy arm circle with a high three-quarters release, fastball mostly true in life and topped out at 77 mph. Keeps the ball down and showed ability to hit spots. Curveball shows 12-6 shape with depth, only flashed in this look and should continue to develop the more it's thrown. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing, does a nice job of staying short to the ball with a line drive swing plane through the zone. Stays inside the ball, able to work the opposite field and able to generate leverage out front when on time. Very good student.
