2017 South Top Prospect Showcase
Carson Kropp is a 2018 C/1B with a 6-2 220 lb. frame from Oologah, OK who attends Owasso HS. Large frame with broad shoulder and present strength. Ran a 7.37 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a low, side set stance while setting up to receive the baseball. Gains ground while working out of crouch and creating good momentum to the bag. Clean glove circle and exchanges. Released from a high three-quarters arm slot producing stiff on line carry to the bag. Topped at 80 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.96. Right handed hitter with a spread, slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Swung with intent on a simple, direct path to contact. Created a naturally leveraged barrel plane through extension that produced solid carry to the gaps when squared. Flashed developing feel for the barrel but featured good bat speed and strength at contact when on time and balanced. Good student. Named to the 2017 South Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
