Alex Barnett is a 2018 1B/LHP/OF with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Lufkin, TX who attends Lufkin HS. Tall and slender athletic build, lots of room to get stronger. Left handed hitter, has a short and smooth swing from a narrow base start, loose swing with good extension through contact, showed very good feel for the barrel and squared the ball up well, versatile and adjustable swing that maximizes square contact, can really grow as a hitter with more strength. 7.22 runner, has athletic actions on defense and a loose arm. Also pitched, high 3/4's delivery with a high energy release out front, gets downhill well with good plane and extension, tends to fall off on release. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, did not observe an off speed pitch, could develop more as a pitcher with delivery adjustments as there is some arm strength there. Good student.
